THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF SELF-ESTEEM HONORS MRS. FRANCES SHIMOTSU FOR EXEMPLARY LEADERSHIP

Since the inception of this organization, Mrs. Shimotsu assumed the role of coordination of repeated Self-Esteem Conferences in Hawaii and Virginia.  As a "Pace-setter" of Excellence in teaching and learning she was recognized in 1990 with an award from the organization for exemplary leadership in promoting positive self-esteem in homes, schools and communities on international levels.

In addition to her outstanding work in building bridges of unconditional love, peace and harmony on a multi-cultural/multi-ethnic basis, she has made great strides in bringing out the best qualities in students, families and diversified community groups.  She served as an educator in the Hawaii State Department of Education for nearly 40 years.  As an Educational Consultant, she has shared her expertise as a leader internationally.

She made significant contributions as a member of Pi Lambda Theta and the International Honor Society in Education, and she rose from the ranks and became International President and served the maximum term of four years in this office from 1995 to 1999.  During her tenure she traveled nationally and internationally creating and strengthening Chapters.

Several "Excellence in Education" Awards have been bestowed upon her for sharing her professional expertise in planning, implementing, and evaluating programs.

Presently, she is serving as Chair of International Travel and conducts tours to numerous countries through her career as Travel Agent.

As a writer, lecturer, consultant and educational leader, she conducts workshops in Hawaii and the Mainland for parents, teachers, and administrators in self-esteem building, reading, language arts and educational kinesiology.

We are honored to salute our Self-Esteem Supporter and Positive Reinforcers Frances Shimotsu, as our "Outstanding Citizen of the Year."
